Green remodel of a historic 1890 Queen Anne in Ashland, Oregon.

The owners of this Ashland home wanted to retain the authentic 1890 Queen Anne exterior, but update the interior with sleek lines and modern colors. And they wanted to do it without impacting the environment. Benchmark’s green remodel included recovered industrial beams and wood trim harvested from sustainable forests. Formaldehyde-free wheat board was used instead of plywood. Insulated Marvin windows help reduce energy consumption year round. Recycled glass tile, non-toxic paint, and natural fiber carpets put on the finishing touches. The result demonstrates how green home remodeling and historic preservation are truly compatible.
