The owners of this Ashland home wanted to retain the authentic 1890 Queen Anne exterior, then update the interior with sleek lines and modern colors. And they wanted to do it without impacting the environment. Benchmark's "green" remodel included recovered industrial beams and wood trim harvested from sustainable forests. Formaldehyde-free wheat board was used instead of plywood. Insulated Marvin windows help reduce energy consumption year-round. Recycled glass tile, non-toxic paint and natural fiber carpets put on the finishing touches. The result demonstrates that it's actually easy being green—and beautiful, too!
